Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to complete the flight training program?
Total time depends on a variety of factors including weather, aircraft availability, instructor availability, and student skill level. While times may vary, obtaining your private pilot certificate can be done in less than a year. Check out our timeline page for more details.

What type of aircraft are used for flight training?
Our primary training aircraft are our fleet of Cessna 172s, equipped with six-pack steam gauges and Garmin G5 flight displays. For multi-engine training, we lease Diamond DA42 aircraft.

What is the cost of the flight training program?
The total cost of flight training varies depending on how many hours you need, certificate sought, and airplane chosen. To gauge how much flight training might cost you, check out our cost estimator page.

Is financial assistance or scholarships available for flight training students?
While we don't directly offer financing or scholarships to our students, we have partnered with a few financing companies to help students fund their pilot training. Check out our financing page for more details.

What are the different pilot licenses or ratings I can obtain through SimpliFly?
SimpliFly offers training from private pilot through certified flight instructor (CFI), including instrument rating, commercial pilot training, multi-engine training, certified flight instructor-instrument (CFII), and multi-engine instructor (MEI). Many of our students have used the experience and training received here at SimpliFly to begin successful airline careers.

Does SimpliFly provide accommodation or assistance in finding accommodation for students?
We do not provide accommodation directly, but you can call us for information on housing options that may be available.

Can I choose between part-time or full-time training?
Of course! SimpliFly offers both flexible and accelerated programs to help you get your pilot certificate and ratings. Check out our individual program pages for more details.

Are there any medical requirements or restrictions for becoming a pilot?
The FAA has medical standards that all pilots must meet in order to be the pilot in command (PIC) of an aircraft. This is done by a medical exam from an FAA-approved medical doctor. However, to just get started, you can do a discovery flight and begin training. By the time you're ready to solo, you'll need to have completed an FAA medical exam. Talk to an instructor or one of our team members for more information.

Are there any opportunities for flight experience beyond the standard training curriculum?
Yes! Students who complete all their ratings through SimpliFly are guaranteed an interview for a certified flight instructor (CFI) position. Becoming a CFI is a great way to build flight hours and gain experience for a career in aviation. Check out our page about beginning your pilot career as a CFI for more details.
